A report by the American Academy of Religion and the Society of Biblical Literature found that the number of religion faculty positions listed with the two groups fell during the 2013-2014 academic year.
The report said that 452 positions were listed, which was down from 548. The number of positions listed is considered a general measure of the health of the academic job market for religion faculty, though not all religion positions are listed with the organizations.
