Regents approve tuition, fee increases

At its April 15 meeting, the board of regents approved tuition and fee increases for the 2014-2015 academic year for all universities and colleges in the University System of Georgia, including UGA.

The undergraduate tuition increase approved for UGA undergraduates is a 7 percent increase for Georgia residents, or an increase of $281 per semester. For out-of-state students, the tuition increase also is $281 per semester. The overall fee increase at UGA for the coming year will be less than 1 percent. This fee increase of just $6 per semester is for the new ConnectUGA system. All other fees will remain at the current year’s level.

“Affordability for students remains a key priority for the University of Georgia,” said UGA President Jere W. Morehead. “The board of regents’ actions on tuition in order to balance affordability and academic quality with a reasonable tuition increase are absolutely critical for the University of Georgia to be able to meet the instructional commitments to its students. It is important to our students and faculty that UGA maintain and advance its competitive position among national research universities.”
